The Hawaiian Baby Woodrose (HBWR) is otherwise known for its scientific name, Argyreia nervosa. It is different from another plant species called Hawaiian Woodrose. Aside from the aforementioned names, it is also known as either Woolly Morning Glory or Elephant Creeper.

A climbing vine, this perennial plant originates from the Indian subcontinent. This species could invade huge patches of your garden since they proliferate quite well. But they are generally pleasing to the eyes and are always valued for aesthetical purposes.

Cheap HBWR seeds & other entheogens

The plant was introduced to various parts of the world such as Africa, the Caribbean, and Hawaii. It has, since then, achieved tremendous popularity. Its immediate and main claim to fame is its seeds which contains LSA, an analog of LSD.

Although plants which could induce hallucinogenic effects are numerous and prolific, Hawaiian Baby Woodrose is different because unlike others, its effects have only been discovered quite recently. Other and most hallucinogenic plants have histories dating back to ancient times. Many have been used to induce vision by shamans of ancient civilizations hundreds of years ago, used for holy and spiritual rituals. HBWR, however, has a relatively modern date of discovery -1960s – and that is what makes it stand out from its peers.

Prior to its recognition as a hallucinogen, HBWR was already known to be related to other hallucinogenic plants in the family Convolvulaceae, Ipomoea tricolor and Rivea corymbosa among others. Even before it was known to be a hallucinogen, it was gathered and utilized by the people in the Indian subcontinent for Ayurvedic medicinal treatments where it remains in use for the same purpose even as of today. Some of its uses include treatments for boils, sores, tumors, and carbuncles and even for reducing body fat.

HBWR’s identification has been confirmed and agreed upon on 1941 and in fact, few scientists have knowledge of the plant before this date. However, it was only nineteen years later, in 1960, that its chemistry and properties were determined. Dr. Albert Hofmann was the one responsible for the discovery and confirmation of the presence of LSA in HBWR. The same man is responsible for the creation of LSD, LSA’s chemical analog.

The seeds are the ones which contain the LSA and hence are the most prized. That is only a term used however, as HBWR seeds are generally low-cost. In truth, it is most well-known for being a cheap substitute for other hallucinogenic plants and alcohol. Use of HBWR seeds as hallucinogen is especially popular in Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Haiti. It is currently recognized as the most potent hallucinogen in the family Convolvulaceae. This is due to the fact that it has the highest psychoactive substance contents among the hallucinogenic members of the family.

Here’s a step-by-step procedure on how to grow Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds:

1. Take a seed from the mother woodrose plant and make a small nick (using a hacksaw) in the seedcoat, away from the germ eye. Another option is to cut off a small end of the seed.

Cheap HBWR seeds & other entheogens

2. Soak the seed in water for approximately 24 hours or until it swells. If it doesn’t swell, it must mean that the seed was not cut or nicked properly.

3. Plant the seed in a pot filled with rich loam soil. If you choose this option, the pot you choose should have a good drainage system. It’s important to maintain dampness, not wetness, in the soil, because too much moisture will cause root rot and even mold. Once placed in a pot, make sure that the seed is given as much sunlight as possible. Usually, it takes between 3 to 10 days for the seeds to sprout.

4. When the sprout finally appears, water sparingly. During this stage, make sure that the sprout receives as much sunlight as possible.

5. During its first year the Baby Woodrose plant grows very slowly, until it develops around half a dozen leaves. When it does, growth usually accelerates. The plant will grow very bushy, approximately 1 to 2 feet tall.

6. Soon after, some of the plant’s leaves will fall off and the plant will stem out in vines. Vines have been known to reach up to a maximum of 10 meters in length, but they need constant watering, or else the vines will die out before they have achieved their maximum length. Give the vines something to twine around while they’re just starting to grow.

7. In its second year the plant should grow into a very large vine, and should be producing flowers and seeds. Make sure that there is sufficient water ingestion and that the plant has enough room for its roots to grow. Plant it outdoors or transplant it in a tub. If flowers don’t appear soon, don’t be impatient. This is because it sometimes takes up to 5 years for the first signs of flowering to appear.

8. Soon enough, the flowers will produces seed pods. Once the seeds are completely dried up, they are ready to be harvested. Store in a cool, dry place.

Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds grow best in warm climate (as they originally came from the Indian subcontinent and have been propagated in Africa, the Carribean, and Hawaii). If you plan to grow these seeds in cold or temperate climate, it is best to keep them in a pot or tub indoors during the winter and when the weather is unusually cold. This is because they are known to be very sensitive to freezing temperatures. But in Southern California, Florida, and other relatively sunny places in temperate parts of the world, they can be grown outdoors.

In India, Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds are still being used for medicinal purposes. In other places such as Haiti, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii, however, HBWR are widely famous for its psychoactive or psychotropic effects. The effects of Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds are comparable to LSD due to the fact that it contains LSA which is LSD’s chemical analog. The effects, however, though evidently comparable are of a less potent degree. Effects of the seeds vary depending on the dosage and sensitivity of the user to the substance. A major concurrence is the known fact that the seeds produce a psychedelic effect.

Cheap HBWR seeds & other entheogens

Hallucinations in the cognitive level are usually associated with HBWR seed use. There have also been some reports of auditory counterparts. This means that psychological functions are (sometimes greatly) altered and view of time, ideas, and reality are often distorted. Erratic blinking patterns also form upon usage. Intake of heavy LSA dosages has the ability to destroy your perception of reality altogether and could take you on a subconscious trip in time and space which you might not be able to distinguish from tangible reality. Doses of a lighter degree, however, could induce as little as lifting moods and slight euphoric effects.

Different strains of the HBWR plant produce different effects. Strains originating from Ghana and India are reportedly lower in LSA content than its Hawaiian strain counterpart. This means that it takes double or triple the amount of the Ghana or India strains to match the effects of the Hawaiian strain. Plants from Ghana and India could induce euphoria and heightened sensation but hallucinatory visions are virtually non-existent. In terms of appearance, the three strains differ considerably from one another. Hawaiian strains, though darker in color, have similar linty seed coats as those of the Indian strain. Strains from Ghana lack this linty seed coat. All three strains of seed, nevertheless, are identical in shape.

The usual dosage for Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds is six seeds though effects could be felt by ingestion of the third. Extreme effects could be felt beyond the twelfth seed though consuming such large amount may not be advisable for everyone. Duration of effects varies but the usual is somewhere around four to twelve hours. After the initial wave of hallucination passes, only a slight euphoric sensation remains though this feeling could last for an entire day. Other side effects include frequent flatulence or passing gas and severe nausea. Your motor skills would also, of course, be affected and there is heightened light sensitivity. Older seeds are generally less in potency because the seeds could decompose in only a few months (about fix to nine). Intake of HBWR seeds are not recommended for pregnant women as it may cause miscarriage. Otherwise, with the correct dosage, intake of HBWR seeds should be perfectly all right.

Because Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds contain alkaloid LSA (or ergine), it has somehow become the legally obtainable alternative to the more popular (and illegal) psychedelic LSD. Although the seeds have been used for medicinal purposes in India and other parts of the world, some people have used it for “psycho-recreational” purposes. With one seed, threshold effects may already be palpable, characterized by a mild, floaty feeling.

Cheap HBWR seeds & other entheogens

“LIGHT” EFFECTS

With two to four seeds, relatively “light” psychedelic effects may usually be experienced. The ability to visualize complex systems is enhanced, as well as one’s auditory perceptions of background noises. In some cases, a person who has a light “trip” may have auditory hallucinations and claim to “hear” things. Feelings of tranquility and lethargy are also reportedly experienced.

“MEDIUM” EFFECTS

Five to seven seeds will already start to alter one’s thought processes, mostly cognitive. One’s perception of time and space may be affected. At this stage, it is said that a feeling of light euphoria is experienced, along with an unusual mood lift. This may be a “good trip” for some, but on the other hand, a “bad trip” may be a risk with a dosage of five to seven seeds. This is characterized by emotional disturbance and one fearing that they have permanently lost control.

Four to six seeds is the standard dose. Effects of the seeds are somewhat similar to the effects of LSD, though significantly less potent. While effects of dosages may vary from person to person, ingestion of seven to nine seeds is not recommended. Side effects may be quite overwhelming. In some cases, it may pose danger to the health.

SIDE EFFECTS

Some of the side effects of ingesting Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds are as follows:

* tachycardia or increased heart rate
* distorted sense of equilibrium
* impaired motor skills
* nausea
* pupil dilation
* sensitivity to light
* uterine contractions, which may lead to miscarriage in pregnant women

The effects of the seeds generally last 4-12 hours, with after-effects stretching til the next day or two. Some people claim that a deep, refreshing sleep is one of the after-effects of ingestion. But a bad “hangover” reportedly leaves one with feelings of severe nausea, gastric discomfort, flatulence, blurred vision, vertigo, and physical inertia.
